Why you should test MULTIPLE TIMES!

As much as I hear parents say that they want their child to be “one and done,” the reality is that taking the SAT® or ACT® multiple times has its benefits. Let’s discuss…

1. Score Choice: most U.S. colleges will allow you to only send in the test dates you want to send in. If you got the scores as listed below, you would only send in the May 2022 scores.

2. Superscoring: to superscore means to combine your best sections to give you the best composite score. On the SAT®, you can superscore the English and math; on the ACT®, you can superscore the English, math, reading, and science. While not every school allows superscoring, many do, and it’s only to your benefit to take advantage of this policy. If you got the scores below, you’d send in both October 2021 and May 2022 to get a superscore of 1340.

3. Less Stress: I can tell you from experience that if a student feels like they only have one opportunity to test (or if they actually have only one opportunity to test), it increases their anxiety immensely. By knowing that they can test multiple times, it takes the pressure off of any one sitting.

4. Better Scores: I pulled the graph below from an ACT® score report, but the numbers show that students tend to improve the more they test!
